“Meet Missy”

I’m a curly girl who struggled with my natural curls for almost 25 years. After a bad experience with a chemical straightening treatment, I decided it was time to stop trying to be someone I wasn’t.

I started my curl journey. Along the way I tried a slew of worthless products, and had countless bad haircuts before finally turning to books and the internet for help. Once I found my path and got my curls happy and healthy, I wondered why there weren’t more professionals dedicated to helping people understand their curls.
I decided to follow my passion and help others find their natural beauty!

MisfitCurls was BORN!

One of the things that makes me different than other “curl specialists” is the fact that I’m not a stylist who decided to specialize in curls, I’m a curly girl who decided to become a stylist! I emphasize and understand the struggles many curlies encounter: bad haircuts, bad styling tips, unhealthy products, people not understanding the methods, feeling overwhelmed, health issues affecting hair (hormones, medications, chemo, etc!)

I love to learn! I continue to research and take certification classes to keep my knowledge up to date! In addition to being licensed in cosmetology, I’m certified by Forever Curls, DevaCurl, Rëzocurl Cuts and RëzoLites, and Live Curly Live Free trained.

In addition to my passion for curls, I love color. When I was 12, I colored my hair a glorious “box” red (my mother was furious!) By the time I was in high school I was formulating colors for myself and my friends. Now I continue to use up to date and curl friendly color techniques in all my color services! (Including curl specific hand painted highlights)

Overall I am friendly, outgoing, sympathetic to curly needs, and excited to be the stylist that I wish I would have had when I started my curl journey.
