I Have extremely thick course curly hair, I have straitened it for years and decided it was time to embrace my Curls and stop fighting it. I went to get my hair cut three weeks ago by a local stylist that supposedly was experienced with the deva technique. I came out with a stacked cut in the back with the front longer then the back I looked very triangular with very heavy sides. I was not sure where she was going with the cut and It looked very unfinished and once again I was disappointed in the cut. I researched online and found Misfit Curls in largo, even though this was over an hour drive for me I was ready to take the leap to hopefully find someone to help me. I found Missy Secore !! I found her very down to earth and experienced with my hair immediately. She knows her stuff and as soon as she saw my hair and the cut she knew exactly how to take care of my problem. She explained all that i need to do for my hair and all about the type and texture and how to style it. She gave me a shape and gave me confidence to stay with my curly hair. I would recommend Missy and the Misfit curls team to all My curly girls out there. Great experienced, Knowledgeable Professional stylist and I will be back to her for all my hair needs 100%

Every curly girl has their own journey. After 40+ years of ups and downs, loves & hates, the good, the bad and definitely the ugly, I can honestly say I have never met anyone who took the time to listen and then educate me the way Missy did! Her initial appointment is two hours long and she does a deep dive into your past, your present and your future curly lifestyle, including products, techniques (good and bad), and how to simplify your life and not be held hostage to your routine anymore! What she didn’t do is try to push her products on me but instead explained the science behind why some products work and others don’t for certain curl types. Cutting your hair dry first then tweaking it after it’s washed and styled is a technique she uses to get to know YOUR hair and curl pattern. When my hair was dry and “uncrunched” my curls sprang up like I haven’t seen in a long time! Missy’s personality is warm and welcoming from the minute you walk through her door and her “let’s sit and chat” approach immediately puts you at ease— she GETS it! This is a long review but in summary I’d say the fact I left there and did NOT put my trusty baseball hat on in the car is a testament to her skills and my experience overall!

Got the best curly cut and color, too, at Misfit Curls. The first appointment was amazing. Missy spent 30 minutes just talking to me about my curly life experience, what products I use, how I use them, and what I want and expect from the visit with her. She explained her process every step of the way, taught me how to properly wash, condition, and style it. She also taught me about how products work and why they work that way because Science! She did NOT try to sell me any products. She just wanted me to understand MY curls and how to embrace the curly girl life. If you're in Tampa Bay and you're a curly, you should get your hair done there, too. Before and after! #bestcurlycut

I have never had a better visit to a salon! Visiting Missy was more than just a haircut. It was a learning experience. I went in thinking I had medium to coarse hair and was using products meant to add moisture to my strands. To my surprise, I had a completely different hair type than what I believed and had been using the wrong products! She taught me not only about my hair type but, what type of products to use in our humid Florida weather. I left with not only a fresh cut that revived my hair but also knowledge that has kept my hair looking just as good as when I left her shop! I highly recommend booking with Missy if you not only want a great cut but, to leave all the more wiser with products recommended to you no matter your budget. Missy is absolutely amazing. Like many curly haired people, I have had nothing but bad experiences at salons. As a result of a particularly bad one, I haven't gotten my hair cut in over a year. I have been really nervous about getting another cut but I found Misfit Curls website and liked her in depth descriptions and expertise. But let me tell you, nothing could have prepared me for how positive my experience would be. Not only did she completely fix and style my hair, but she also gave me really good advice and directions for upkeep. In addition, she made me feel extremely validated and excited for my haircare journey. My hair went from flat/weighted/frizzy to bouncy/curly/healthy in just one day. I can't wait to see how her methods improve my hair over time. Set up an appointment!!

Missy is amazing at what she does. My only regret is waiting so long to go see her! I procrastinated making an appointment because I wasn't sure if my hair was "curly enough." I've always thought of my hair as wavy, but Missy showed me just how curly my hair has the potential to be. I am so glad I found her! I have never been able to find someone who knows how to cut my hair properly. I love the cut and feel confident styling my hair now thanks to her taking the time to educate me. Highly recommend!
